Having issues with your furnace?

Do this before you call!

Here are a few things you can check before calling us before your furnace repair

Dirty Air-Filter?

A dirty air filter is one of our most common service calls. Check to see if your furnace filter is dirty before calling! A dirty filter can cause a furnace to shut off because no air can circulate.

No heat and just got a lot of snow?

Locate where your furnace vents are outside and see if there is snow blocking the furnace vents!

Check your thermostat!

Does your thermostat have batteries? If so, this could be the issue!

If there inst batteries, inspect the furnace to see if you notice any water near the furnace.

Is Your Furnace Ready for an Upgrade?

If your furnace is over 15 years old, requires frequent repairs, or no longer heats your home efficiently, it may be time for a replacement. A new furnace not only improves your home’s comfort, but it also increases energy efficiency and lowers your heating costs. Here’s what you need to know before making the investment.

Why Replace Your Furnace?

  • 1. Increased Energy Efficiency
Modern furnaces are significantly more efficient than older models, using less energy to heat your home. Look for furnaces with a high AFUE (Annual Fuel Utilization Efficiency) rating for maximum savings. Some new furnaces are up to 98% efficient, which can reduce your energy bills by up to 30%.

  • Improved Comfort
Newer furnaces provide more consistent heat, eliminating cold spots in your home. Many systems also offer advanced features like variable-speed blowers, which provide even heating and quieter operation.

  • Enhanced Safety
Old furnaces may pose safety risks such as carbon monoxide leaks or electrical issues. A new furnace comes with updated safety features, ensuring your home and family are protected.

  • Lower Maintenance and Repair Costs
If you're spending money on frequent repairs, it might be more cost-effective to replace the unit. A new furnace comes with a warranty and will require fewer repairs, saving you money and reducing hassle.

Signs It’s Time for a Furnace Replacement

  • Your Furnace Is More Than 15–20 Years Old
If your furnace is approaching or has surpassed its expected lifespan, it's time to consider a replacement.

  • Frequent Repairs
Are you constantly calling your HVAC technician for repairs? This could indicate that your furnace is nearing the end of its useful life.

  • Rising Energy Bills
Older furnaces become less efficient over time, causing your energy bills to increase despite the same level of usage.

  • Uneven Heating
If some rooms are too hot while others are too cold, your furnace may be struggling to distribute heat evenly.

  • Strange Noises or Odors
Unusual sounds like banging, rattling, or squealing, as well as strange smells, are signs of potential mechanical failure.

Choosing the Right Furnace

Furnace Type

  • Gas Furnaces: The most common and cost-effective option, gas furnaces are highly efficient and fast at heating.
  • Electric Furnaces: Ideal for homes without access to natural gas, though typically more expensive to operate.
  • Oil Furnaces: A less common option but effective for homes in colder climates.
  • Dual-Fuel Systems: Combines a gas furnace with an electric heat pump for maximum efficiency.

AFUE Rating

  • The AFUE rating indicates how efficiently the furnace converts fuel into heat. Look for units with an AFUE rating of 90% or higher for maximum energy savings.

Size of Furnace

  • It’s crucial to install a furnace that’s properly sized for your home. An oversized or undersized furnace will result in inefficient heating, high energy bills, and increased wear and tear on the unit. Your HVAC professional will perform a load calculation (Manual J) to determine the correct size.

Additional Features

  • Consider modern features like smart thermostats, two-stage heating, or variable-speed blowers to improve comfort and energy efficiency.
